I use vintage patterns, some of which belonged to my grandmother, with today's fabrics and yarns. I take vintage needlework magazines and work from the patterns in them. The magazines date from 1912 through to the fifties, and I try and use the patterns from them as they would have been originally used. Sometimes I will adapt them and make something else. I prefer to specialize with the thirties and forties patterns and occasionally dip my toe into the fifties.

When I feel the need to bring things up to date, sometimes adapting the original vintage patterns. I also design my own patterns so you can make lovely items too.

GIVEAWAY!

Wow! How does this work. I've just made one from scratch and I still don't know! As soon as I saw this little novelty I just knew I had to bring it up to date.  It was originally a knitting pattern holder, but I thought why not put in it all those cuttings and ideas that you tear from  magazines and then find you have tucked them into a draw or slipped them into a book and forgotten about them. Why not have a go and be fascinated as I was.
(It is just the folder not the magazine which is one of my collection.)

I can be found here too

I have one to give away!

To be in for a chance.......................

1942

I knitted this pretty jumper in 4ply Robin yarn.  Fun was had!  They say if you do it by the book and it still doesn't work then the book must be wrong!  Errmmmm, yes you could say that.  The air on one occasion went the same colour as the yarn!  The sleeves sizing was slightly awry.  They didn't fit the armhole of the jumper.  So I unpicked to the casting off and tried again......and again.  In the end I copied the armhole of the jumper read the instructions for sewing in the sleeve and they fitted perfectly.  As some people have probably seen, I collect vintage magazines but I haven't got the follow-up magazine to see if there was a correction.  I wonder if anybody in blogland has issue ten of Needlework and Needlewoman to see if there is an addendum?    .

The jumper is now on sale here
